Pickleball Facility

Why More Pickleball at MVP?

Pickleball is America’s fastest-growing sport. A combination of badminton, ping pong, and tennis – the game is fun, social, and easy for beginners to learn!

MVP saw a community need for additional pickleball courts. By adding additional dedicated pickleball courts, MVP can serve our members’ needs while freeing up tennis courts, so they no longer need to be shared across both sports.

We can’t wait to share our new facility and spaces with our members this summer!

OPENING IN JUNE

Our 12 new pickleball courts and facility are planned to open in June!

We anticipate our indoor facility with its 6 courts to be completed first and be able to open to members as soon as possible. The 6 outdoor courts and social areas should follow shortly after.

Additional information regarding final grand opening times and celebrations will be communicated to members in the coming weeks.

FAQ

With a new facility, we know there will be a lot of questions. Please review the information below carefully!

Who can access the new pickleball courts and facility and participate in programming?
MVP CRAHEN MEMBERS:

Members with a homesite of MVP Athletic Club, Crahen who are active before 5/31/2024 at 11:59pm will receive grandfathered access to the new pickleball facility and courts without being required to upgrade to All-Star membership status. Please note that if your membership is canceled at any time, your grandfathered access will also be terminated. As long as you remain an active and paying primary membership holder, with a homesite of MVP Crahen, you will continue to receive the grandfathered access. This excludes insurance-sponsored (Medicare) members. Please see below for additional details.

Beginning 6/1/2024, anyone who joins MVP Crahen will be required to have the All-Star membership type to access the new pickleball facility and courts. MVP Crahen members do not need the All-Star upgrade to access the outdoor pool and tennis and pickleball courts west of the pool area.

MVP SPORTSPLEX/ROCKFORD/METRO/HOLLAND MEMBERS:

Members with a homesite other than MVP Athletic Club, Crahen will be required to have the All-Star membership upgrade to access the new pickleball facility, courts, and programs. Members with a homesite of Sportsplex, Holland, Rockford, or Metro Club who do NOT have an All-Star membership upgrade will be required to pay a guest fee to participate in a court reservation with an eligible member if they do not have a valid pass. These members will not be eligible to participate in programming at this facility.

MVP INSURANCE-SPONSORED MEMBERS:

Members with an insurance-sponsored (Medicare) membership who do not have a paid All-Star upgrade will not be able to access the new pickleball facility, courts, and programs. These individuals are encouraged to pay the monthly cost to upgrade to All-Star access, which includes access to the new pickleball facility and courts and many other perks. If you do not wish to pay to upgrade your membership to gain All-Star access, you may continue to play outdoor pickleball at MVP Crahen on the three pickleball courts located by the outdoor tennis courts, west of the pool area (open seasonally). You will also continue to have access to the outdoor pool area without the All-Star upgrade. Insurance-sponsored members will also continue to have access to play pickleball indoors without an All-Star upgrade at our Sportsplex, Holland, and Rockford locations.

NON-MEMBERS/GUESTS:

Non-members or guests will be able to access the facility when accompanying an eligible member for a court reservation if they have a valid guest pass. If the member inviting the non-member does not have or wish to use a valid guest pass on their account, the non-member will have to purchase a daily guest pass. Non-members are not eligible to participate in pickleball programming outside of court reservations with an eligible member.

What is the court reservation policy?
  • All outdoor court reservations are free of charge to members with an eligible membership type which includes members with an All-Star membership upgrade, and Crahen homesite members who were grandfathered in before 6/1/2024.
  • Indoor court reservations are available at a rate of $12-$16 an hour, depending on the time of day, to members with an eligible membership type.
  • Members with an All-Star membership upgrade will receive 50% off all court reservation costs.
  • Court reservations for the new facility will follow the same reservation rules as for tennis courts. Online reservations will open to members seven days prior to the reservation date at 7:00am.
  • All participants must check in at the pickleball facility welcome desk to validate access and receive their court assignment.
  • Guests may accompany an eligible member to a court reservation but will be required to pay the daily guest pass rate if they do not have a valid pass.
  • We cannot accommodate permanent court reservation requests at this time. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact jchen@mvpathleticclubs.com.
What does a daily guest pass grant me access to?
A daily guest pass purchased at MVP Athletic Club, Crahen will grant that individual one day access to:
  • 1. Main Crahen fitness facility (includes group classes and all amenities)
  • 2. Outdoor pool and recreation area *open seasonally*
  • 3. New pickleball facility and courts as a participant on an eligible member’s court reservation.
What will the purchases look like within the facility?
The pickleball facility at MVP Athletic Club, Crahen will be a cashless facility. Charges can be placed on an active members' account balance or be paid at the point of sale with a credit card.
Will I receive member reward points for checking into the pickleball facility?
All members will receive check-in reward points for one building per day. If a member checks into the MVP Crahen main fitness building and then the pickleball facility on the same day, they will only receive check-in points for the first facility. If a member checks into the pickleball facility and has not already checked into another MVP facility that day they will receive the rewards points for that check in.
Will paddles and balls be available for use?
Demo paddles and balls may be checked out in the pickleball facility to members and guests while supplies last. If items are returned, there will be no charge to the member for borrowing.
So, if I don’t meet the requirements above, I can’t play pickleball at MVP Crahen?
May 6 – Until the new facility opens:

The three dedicated outdoor pickleball courts at MVP Crahen, located west of the pool area near the tennis courts, are available for reservations to all MVP Crahen members and all MVP members with All-Star access.

After the new facility opens (est. Early-mid June):

The three dedicated outdoor pickleball courts at MVP Crahen, located west of the pool area near the tennis courts, will be open to all members with access to MVP Crahen. You do not need to have an All-Star upgrade to play on these courts. These courts are available on a first-come-first-serve basis seasonally.

Can I still play pickleball on the tennis courts at MVP Crahen?
Per township ordinance and out of respect to our neighbors, existing outdoor tennis courts may not be used for pickleball play under any circumstances. Thank you for your understanding.

All indoor pickleball play will be moved to the new indoor pickleball facility. We will no longer host programming or play in the main athletic club once the new facility opens.

Will towels be provided in the pickleball facility?
No, there will be no towel service in the new pickleball facility.
